It was a bit of an epic journey here with a 7am departure from Calgary (that means I was at the airport at 5am), then a 9 hour layover in Chicago, then carrying boats, paddles, and luggage through the Sao Palo Airport trying to figure out where we were supposed to be, then.... walking into the heat like it was a brick wall!
But we made it.
It feels great to be back in the boat on whitewater in warm weather. By warm I mean hot. This week the highs are in the mid 30's and I think it could get hotter! It feels like this heat selfishly sucks the energy from your muscles, and bones. The water is not the slightest bit refreshing either; its warm, and the gym we are using has no A/C. Physically exerting ones self is daunting and in this heat is draining. We are trying to come up with ways to prevent over heating during the workouts. If anyone has suggestions feel free to e-mail me.
Essentially all that fills my days is eating, training and resting, but we have managed to find the energy to do some extracurricular like visited the bird sanctuary, went to a Brazilian BBQ and ate more food than I thought possible, I feel like I gained 5 kg in one day!
I tried to upload photos but the internet is not good enough. ill try again tomorrow.
