2011 had its ups and downs in both sport and my personal life. Here are a few photos to reflect on the year before I put it behind me and move on to 2012.
Australia- This is always my favourite training camp of the year! in 2012 I will not make it to Aus; I will be in Brazil training to Qualify Canada an Olympic spot
A HUGE shout out to my physio Susan! I would not have got through the year of training and racing without her.
London Test Event- I love London (the city and the kayak course)
Fundraiser- This was the hi-light of my year. Team Jessica is an amazing group of people who have spent there time and money to raise funds for my Olympic goals and dreams. I cant thank everyone enough for the amazing and successful May evening event!
Worlds- Although my race was disappointing, I was able to take a lot from the experience.
Halloween Red river in Charlotte, NC
Olympic Excellence Series- An amazing 2 days of motivation, and preparation for london 2012. I was able to meet athletes like myself, and legends like Mark Tewksbury.
X-country skiing. I dont get much winter because I chase the summer to kayak; but I get out on the frozen water whenever I can.
Caving in Rats Nest Cave near Canmore on my Birthday. At the bottom of the cave we all turned out our lights and my friends sang happy birthday!
Now I get to look forward to the new year! I will get train in Brazil for 2 months, and have the opportunity to qualify Canada an Olympic spot at the end of that camp. Then If we qualify a spot, I will have the chance to secure that spot for myself in Charlotte N.C. and compete at my first Olympics.
Then in the fall I will be going back to University!
I wish everyone the best in the New Year!!!!
Year's end is neither an end nor a beginning but a going on, with all the wisdom that experience can instill in us. ~Hal Borland
